Ascended

The Ascended are a mortal race of the sapient designation, descended from human stock. What separates them from ordinary people is the Shuriman ascension ritual and the Sun Disc at its center. Mortals who passed through that rite emerged with immortality and celestial power at a scale no other mortal on Runeterra can match. Though the ritual and its instrument belong to Shurima, individuals tied to the Ascended appear across a wide span of Runeterra, including Demacia, Ionia, Ixtal, Shurima, and Targon. Languages associated with the race reflect that same spread, covering Celestial, Demacian, Ixtali, Targonian, and Shuriman. A large number of champions are connected to the Ascended, among them Aatrox, Azir, Nasus, Renekton, Xerath, Sivir, and Zaahen, alongside figures such as Aurelion Sol, Cassiopeia, Ezreal, Jax, K'Sante, Kassadin, Kayn, Malphite, Rammus, Soraka, Taliyah, Tryndamere, Varus, Vladimir, Xin Zhao, Yunara, and Zoe. The race is not recorded as lost.
